An exhibit on climate change in Mexico City's Papalote children's museum aims to raise awareness of global warning in one of the world's top oil producers. Although Mexico has led global efforts to combat climate change, the issue is still new at home.
Mauricio Fernandez was being sworn in again as mayor of San Pedro Garza Garcia, one of northern Mexico's most exclusive communities, when he announced to his cheering supporters: "Black Saldana, who apparently is the one who was asking for my head, was found dead today in Mexico City."
However, speculation that Mr Fernandez might have had something to do with the death of Hector Saldana arose when it emerged that the barefoot, blindfolded corpse of "Black Saldana" had not been found until three and a half hours after the mayor's speech, according to Mexico City prosecutors. The body - which was found hundreds of miles away - was not identified until two days later.
Freedom of the press in the United States has improved under the Obama administration, but in Europe, Israel, and in many countries around the world reporters are having a tougher time doing their jobs.
The report issued by Reporters Without Borders (RWB) is positive for the U.S., however, the issue of national security, seems to be one of the biggest problems for United States reporters seeking information from the government.
But that pales when you compare the problems Mexican reporters have in covering the news, especially in the border areas with the United States.
Reporter Angela Kocherga gave this first hand report: "Mexico is one of the most dangerous places to work as a reporter these days, we see that by the ranking and see that played out in the field. Now the Majority of the murders go unsolved. The investigations go nowhere. That includes the killings of reporters. A year ago a police reporter was killed in his driveway picking up his daughter, taking her to school. That case remains unsolved and the investigator who was looking into it was murdered this Summer," he said.
Kocherga reports more than 1,800 murders this year by the drug cartels in Cuidad Juarez alone. Kocherga said the killings have a chilling effect on news coverage.

A river - and an international border - separate the city of Juarez in Mexico and El Paso in the United States. Even though they are in many respects worlds apart - Juarez is poor and crime-ridden and El Paso is prosperous and relatively safe - the two cities are bound by powerful ties. One of them is the family of Jesus and Maria Ruiz and the charity they have started.
Interstate 10 is a major thoroughfare in the city of El Paso, Texas, bustling with traffic night and day. Just several hundred meters to the south, on the hilltops overlooking the interstate, sit the concrete houses of Juarez, Mexico.
Jesus and Maria Ruiz and their 19-year-old daughter Liz and 13-year-old son Jesus Jr. live in a quiet suburb of El Paso. Like 80 percent of the city's residents, they're Latin American.

Mexican officials say at least 19 people have been killed in a riot that erupted in a prison in the northern Mexican state of Durango. Authorities say another 26 were injured in Friday's fighting. Playing in the famed Azteca Stadium in Mexico City Wednesday, where they have never lost to the United States, the Mexican national team came from behind to beat their northern rivals. The Americans had never won in 23 tries in Mexico City . Seven hours south of the US/Mexican Border lies the small town of Alberto, where the local community, like many pueblos across Mexico, has lost 80 percent of its population to migration into the United States. But Alberto has a plan to revive their community, the creation of a theme-park event - a simulated border crossing, complete with balaclava-clad “coyotes” as guides and “border patrol” that chase “migrants” up and down rough terrain through the night. They call this event the Caminata (translation: journey, hike, trek). The organizers designed the experience as a tool for compassion and consciousness-raising, showing the largely middle-class Mexican tourists who attend the difficulty and dangers faced by those crossing the border. Through an exploration of this unique journey, La Caminata adds a fresh perspective to the ongoing debate on immigration: that of Mexicans actively fighting poverty, joblessness, and desolation in their home communities.
